Some things get better with age and that certainly seems to be the case with Manitoba’s Master Angler program. Since 1960, anglers who drop a line in Manitoba waters have a chance of catching a really big fish—and adding their names to the prestigious Master Angler ranks. This year, we’re on track to have one of the busiest years yet with 11,249 entries so far.
For the first time last year, entries were recorded electronically along with traditional paper entries. This year, online entries are at 7,824 while paper entries number 3,425. Master Angler Online at anglers.travelmanitoba.com is a hit!
To say that anglers are passionate about the program would be an understatement. Our top competition has earned 28 Specialist badges (he’s caught at least five Master Anglers of each of those 28 species). Another angler has registered a whopping 516 Masters!
In addition to Master Angler Online, there’s also a handy iPhone app that lets anglers record their big fish anywhere, any time.
