Fishing One of Manitoba's Best Walleye Lakes! - Clayton Schick Outdoors
In this Clayton Schick Outdoors Vlog he heads to Manitoba's Parkland Region to Lake of the Prairies chasing big walleyes!
Lake of the Prairies, nestled in Manitoba’s scenic Parkland region, is a stunning man-made reservoir that stretches over sixty-seven kilometers along the Assiniboine River. Known for its dramatic backdrop of rolling hills, including the iconic Big Hill, this reservoir offers breathtaking views of the surrounding valleys, especially during sunrise and sunset when the landscape is bathed in warm hues. The lake itself is a premier destination for anglers, especially for those seeking trophy walleye, as it’s considered one of Manitoba's top walleye fisheries. The lake also teems with northern pike and yellow perch, providing a diverse fishing experience.
If you’re planning a visit, there are a number of great spots to stay or camp. Ricker’s Campground offers a mix of seasonal and daily camping sites, and it’s known for its convenience store, “Buckets,” which is great for grabbing supplies, ice cream, and even some quick bites. Pyott’s West Campground is another fantastic option, offering amenities like a boat launch, a beach area, and rentals for kayaks and canoes. If you prefer a more structured setup, Asessippi Provincial Park has a campground with public boat launches and access to hiking trails, making it perfect for both fishing and outdoor adventure.
