A Remote Fishing Paradise on the Winnipeg River - Kendall Point Lodge
Located on the remote stretches of the Winnipeg River in Manitoba’s Eastern region, you will find Kendall Point Lodge. This beautiful outpost-style camp is anything but roughing it.
The Lodge is owned and operated by the Hrechkosy family, at Trail End Camp and serves as an outpost camp for their guests. The Hrechkosys, Vance, Maureen and their son Carter have built this once modest camp into what is now becoming one of the most luxurious out camps in the province.
Beyond all of that, Kendall Point Lodge is located on a relatively untouched expanse of the Winnipeg River. This stretch of the river has some of the most diverse multi-species fishing action found in the province, with supersized specimens of each lurking below the surface all throughout the river.

The Charter Boats:
A Day at Kendall Point
After hearing all about the amazing stories of this fishery and Kendall Point Lodge, some friends and I decided to make the trip and try it out for ourselves. Naturally, we went with the Charter Boat option.
Throughout this trip, I was lucky enough to be guided by and get to know both Vance and Carter. Vance has a wealth of knowledge of this river system and the fish patterns from years of experience. His son Carter has grown up on the river and although young, is one of the most experienced folks that traverse these remote waters next to his father.
The trip started with making the drive over to Pointe Du Bois, which is only 150 kms from Manitoba’s capital city, Winnipeg. Upon arrival, I met up with the folks at Trail End Camp, after a brief visit we loaded up the charter boats and began heading upriver to Kendall Point Lodge.
Once we got to the lodge we got settled into the cabins, had a nice bite to eat, and enjoyed a campfire to cap off the day. After a restful sleep, we were up early as we awaited the arrival of the charter boat to start the first day of fishing.
It didn't take long to realize that this stretch of river was special. You ask for walleyes? They take you right to a spot where you can’t keep em’ off of your hook. You want smallies? They rip across to an island point or a shoreline and you can cast your arm off consistently catching small jaws with no shortage of 18”+ Manitoba Master Angler-sized fish. By then, it was time to head in for shore lunch, and the Hrechkosys pull out all the stops for this portion of the trip.
As soon as you get the boat up on the beach at one of their shore lunch spots, it seems as though within a matter of seconds, the fish are filleted and the oil is already hot. This efficient crew knows how to put together a classic Canadian shore lunch. French fries and freshly caught walleye… how do you beat that?!
After lunch, it was time to target Pike, and once again, they knew exactly where to take us to make that plan come together. With the first casts of our pike baits, we were already catching countless smaller pike, one after another. Although entertaining, our goals were set for something bigger, and bigger we got!
After catching all kinds of pike, I set the hook and immediately knew this was a much bigger fish than we had been catching. Shortly after, the fight the fish began to put up confirmed that. A short battle ensued until I was finally able to get it boatside, in the net and celebrate the incredible success.
One of a Kind Experiance at Kendall Point Lodge
After a few more really nice pike, it was time to head back to Kendall Point Lodge, make a nice meal and relax for the evening as we recollected what an amazing day we just had. Sitting in the remote wilderness along the Winnipeg River, with some of the nicest accommodations you can imagine; After catching countless walleyes, football-sized smallies, and massive pike in a beautiful charter boat, all the while being treated to an incredible shore lunch. There really aren't many places that can offer up an experience like that. Let alone only a short drive from Winnipeg.
This was truly one of my favourite fishing experiences and there is no doubt I will be heading back to Trail End Camp’s Kendall Point Lodge once again in the future.
